Massacre in Guinea

On September 29, 2009, an opposition rally in the national stadium was broken up by the military government’s security forces. Hundreds were killed and sexually assaulted. I designed three maps for the Human Rights Watch report Bloody Monday: The September 28 Massacre and Rapes by Security Forces in Guinea. The maps provide a geographic context to the testimonies of survivors and witnesses.

A week after the report was released, a UN investigation referred the case to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
